The Project Run and Play team has been planning our latest designer collaboration since last fall! We are taking turns designing the fabric for each collection and this time Jenny of Made of Starlite Couture worked her magic! The Project Under the Sea fabric collection is available through Raspberry Creek Fabrics Designer Studios Custom Printing. You can get any design on a wide assortment of substrates. The printing and fabric are both very high quality and I love having endless options! Although it also makes it really hard for me to make decisions!

The “Mermazing” design is so cute that I truly COULDN’T decide so I ended up getting a few different colorways. I used “Mermaid” and “Ocean” to create these fun teal and purple outfits!

I sewed each of them an “Attina” short sleeve Lagoon top in double brushed poly. I did the neckbinding on the outside for a contrast that edges out the print nicely along with the white sleeve cuffs. Then, they each got bottom pieces that more accurately reflect their personalities…

This girl is all about comfort! She has been wearing a lot to “sporty” clothes so I made her a pair of “bike shorts” using the Sofiona Designs Rocky Shore Tights pattern. I cropped them at the lengthen/shorten line and added a high waistband. The fabric is from Mily Mae fabrics- lilac supplex. I absolutely LOVE this color and the fabric is a really great weight for athleticwear.

My youngest daughter still wears a lot of frilly, girly things (please don’t grow up!!!) and I had an idea that I just had to try! We like to do “next level” sorts of things at Project Run and Play. I bought a mesh laundry bag on clearance at Target with the intentions of making a Seashell Satchel. However, it makes a really fun “Andrina” bubble hem skirt!

I did a few glitter iron-ons from the digital designs on the underskirt. Then, I cut strips from my daughter’s green, sparkly homecoming dress scraps and snipped angled fringes in them to create seaweed. I also cut the bottom of a teal T-shirt in wavy lines and stretched it out to create a different texture. These pieces were originally going to lay in the bottom of the skirt, but I didn’t like how they stuck together so I hand sewed them to the mesh so that they dangle from the sides of the skirt. I dumped a bunch of sequins into the skirt before attaching the waistband and my daughter loves swishing them around!

Their second outfits also reflect their personalities! I let them choose their own fabric for these.

For my youngest daughter, I sewed a tester version of the Lagoon dress with Attina short sleeves and “Arista” tulle overlay. She LOVES this fish fabric so I thought it would give the effect of looking at fish through water with the white tulle over the fish underskirt.

My sporty girl just wanted shorts and she really liked the bubble design! I sewed a pair of Sand N Surf Boardshorts but skipped the lining and shortened them a few inches. Her shirt is an Explorer Raglan using this fun panel on the front and bubbles on the back.
