Project Night and Day: Silver Stars
/For the past few months I have been working behind the scenes for the newest pattern collection from Project Run and Play - Project Night and Day! It is filled with patterns that are perfect for day or night, from sporty to fancy! It also has tons of accessories!
For my first set of outfits from this collection, I went with cool colors and pops of silver sparkle.
When I saw the Luna Jumper I just knew that I wanted to try it using velvet fabric. I got a navy, 4-way stretch velvet from Cali Fabrics and it was absolutely love to work with!
I used a silver, shimmery remnant from Joann for the ruffles and also had just enough for a Sunshine Scrunchie with tails and the pieced bottoms of Rocky Shore Tights.
I used purple bridal satin from Cali Fabrics to sew a Celestial Dress for my younger niece. It is a little big on her, but she can wear it longer. Celestial was designed for fabrics with a bit more drape so the midweight satin gives it a different look. I added silver trim to accentuate the seams.
The tails of the (Rain)Bow are a perfect spot for the Project Night and Day Embroidery Designs. The medium designs were specifically sized for them and I chose the luna moth for this bow.
Her favorite part of this outfit is the faux fur cardigan! I used the Blank Canvas Cardigan pattern, but instead of adding bands to the front and hem, I added a lining (from a crushed stretch velvet remnant) to the bodice.
I visited a local thrift store early in my planning stage and found a soft star sweater that I upcycled to create an Aurora Raglan with 3/4 sleeves. The skirt was from a sparkly dress and you can see that process HERE.
The Constellation Collar adds such a cute touch and takes a basic sweater from casual to fancy! The small embroidery designs are sized to fit the collar.
When we were planning the patterns for the Project Night and Day collection, we envisioned the perfect 90s track suit with the Verdant Windbreaker and Planetary Pants! I used sport nylon from Joann to sew this set for my niece.
Because she isnβt likely to find her name on anything in a souvenir shop, I decided to personalize the back of the jacket with some glitter iron-on.
For underneath the track pants, I sewed her a pair of Rocky Shore shorts from an athletic knit remnant.
Of course, a 90s style set would not be complete without a scrunchie!
I was going to sew an Easel Tee for my daughter using a purple velvet remnant from Joann but I accidentally cut the wrong size. Oops! I think my youngest niece was thrilled to get a βbonus outfitβ paired with Rocky Shore Tights and a Sunshine Scrunchie for a sassy ponytail! The trim on the shirt and the star applique is made of scraps from the black sparkly dress. The Project Night and Day Digital Designs have stars that are perfect for lots of uses!
