Project Night and Day: Daydreams

December was a bit chaotic here so I am a bit delayed on finishing up the second installment of Project Night and Day. In stark contrast to the nighttime looks, we now have the day outfits!

In reality, we took these pictures just before a snowstorm. #keepitreal

Iā€™m gonna break each outfit down for you now because there are a lot of pieces in each one!

flannel sunset shirt

First up, my daughter got a rayon flannel Sunset Shirt using the softest, silkiest flannel from Cali Fabrics. It is sold out but I saw that they have some other great options! I sized up because I wanted the oversized, baggy look. Also, I want her to wear this one for awhile since button down shirts were my arch nemesis in 2023.

Underneath, I added a Lemon Tee (such a perfect, quick pattern for wardrobe staples!) with some hand embroidery at the neckline. I interfaced it and stitched a small butterfly from the Project Night and Day hand embroidery design package, with some added florals from the XL rainbow design.

Corduroy Mini Skirt girls sewing pattern

The Sol Skirt is made of a stretch corduroy remnant from my stash. I slimmed it down a little bit at the sides, partly due to preference and party due to refusing to seam rip a mistake. #keepitreal On the back pockets and coin pocket, I added some more Project Night and Day hand embroidery.

Overall, this outfit really fits her style and I am thrilled with how it turned out!

Project Night and Day Celestial Dress

For this niece, I let her choose some of her favorite colors from the palette to design her outfit and when I saw this rayon gauze from Cali Fabrics I knew it would be perfect for a Celestial Dress! I was concerned that I should have lined the skirt so I sewed a pair of Rocky Shore shorts for underneath, but I think it was OK after all.

Sunshine Scrunchie

Of course, that last tiny bit of scraps were used to sew a matching sunshine scrunchie with tails.

embroidered quilt star little dipper bag

I did a lot of samples while designing the hand embroidery package and I decided to turn this medium moon embroidery into a quilt block for a Little Dipper Bag.

Cali Fabrics Rayon Gauze

I think the crochet lace trim (from Dollar Tree) on the princess seams adds a perfect touch to this outfit. I originally planned to use more lace, but decided on simplicity. Full disclosure about this dress, though- I mixed up the length and width on the cut chart so it should be 5 inches longer and a perfect maxi length. #keepitreal It is still a lovely dress, though!

Luna Jumper

This niece got a Luna Jumper and Rocky Shore Tights. I planned to make another Sol Skirt in denim, but ran out of time. #keepitreal I used the ā€œgoodā€ athletic knit that I have been hoarding for the leggings, which are lengthened to fit her better than RTW.

Cali Fabrics Brushed Rib Sweater Knit

For the Luna Jumper I used a burnt orange brushed rib sweater knit from Cali Fabrics. It is so soft and I just love how it turned out! I lengthened the arms about 4 inches because she is so lanky!

Constellation Collar and Rain Bow

To accessorize we added a Constellation Collar with small butterfly embroidery and small (Rain)Bow hair clip.

Project Night and Day Girls Outfit in pink and gold

Last, but not least, we have this adorable little princess! She loves all things pink and purple and girly! I wanted to make a Starlite Dress for her but I miscalculated the yardage. #keepitreal As a result, the skirt is a simple, gathered skirt instead of tiered. I used double brushed poly from Cali Fabrics and I have a feeling that this dress will get a lot of wear!

It is accessorized with a Constellation Collar in gold satin with lace trim, which is a great way to ā€œfancifyā€ a plain dress!

Oh, and you canā€™t see underneath but I added a pair of Elodie shorts so that she is playground ready!

Gold Satin (Rain)Bow

This gold satin (Rain)Bow with long tails is such a cute addition to this outfit! My oldest daughter actually has the same bow with short tails that she wore to a military ball!

Girls Purse Sewing Pattern

Last spring, I let her choose a fabric from my stash for a purse after her sister got a new bag and she didnā€™t. She did not let me forget about it! The Little Dipper Bag was the perfect pattern to use.

As one last accessory for this outfit, I upcycled sweater sleeves into a pair of Abbyā€™s Trailblazing socks!
