Christmas Surprise Stocking Pattern
/I am pretty excited about the newest sewing pattern for Project Run and Play! I did all of the technical stuff on my own to create this one so it’s a pretty big accomplishment! Oh, and it’s also super cute with lots of fun options!
I have told my Christmas stocking fail stories before. Well, the sweater stockings that I made were OK but my sewing skills and scrutiny of craftsmanship have both increased in the past few years. A stocking pattern was in the PRP plans for a few years now and I am so glad we were finally able to bring it to fruition! Introducing… the Christmas Surprise Stocking!
We wanted something different than other stocking patterns available, so this one has a lot of different options for the cuff or bow. It can be made with heel and toe appliques as well. The stocking is fully lined and all of the seams are neatly finished.
I sewed all of these stocking from a Harbor Freight drop cloth (with lots left!), some flat sheets, and a satin from my stash that was in the Walmart mystery fabric bin. I really love the colors and textures. The plaid sheet for the lining on the green stockings is a fun surprise, too! They are coordinating but not exactly matching, which is just what I wanted!
Here are the details on each option…
My youngest daughter chose the plain cuff with the heel and toe appliques. It is very traditional and clean!
To fancy it up a bit there is an option to add a ruffle at the bottom of the cuff. I did two versions of this - fabric choice makes a big difference!
There is also a scalloped cuff option that I really love!
You can skip the cuff altogether, of course. That would be ideal for a quilted stocking or some larger prints. There are also two options for a bow instead of a cuff. One is a simple, knot bow…
The other is a full bow…
I really love all of the options we created and I hope that these particular stockings will be well-loved! I may even have a mantle to hang them from before Christmas! Stay tuned…
