Miss Aspen Rompers
/Sofiona Designs is gradually adding some “junior miss” patterns to their shop. The size range is meant for older girls and teens and I happen to have a few of those. I helped out with the pattern testing and sewed up two rompers (so far) for my oldest daughters.
The new patterns include the Miss Dandelion Dress - which has options for a peplum top, dress, or maxi with or without sleeves and the Miss Aspen romper add-on- which can be made in shorts, capris, or pants lengths. Of course, they also sell it as a bundle.
My oldest daughter chose the pants length with a blush double brushed poly fabric from Joann. The double brush poly does pull them down quite a bit, so I had to remove some of the rise. There are lengthen-shorten lines at several places in these patterns that make it super helpful to adjust for growing teens having different proportions. I loved that I could also blend several sizes together to get a good fit.
My next daughter wanted another shorts romper. She fit the upper end of the Sofiona girls size range, but also fits the lower end of the junior miss range. I didn’t have to do any size blending for her, but I shortened the rise and the top using the lines for a perfect fit!
She chose a floral print in double brushed poly fabric- also from Joann (it was my first time inside the store since last winter!) DBP is my girls’ favorite fabric because it is so soft!
Oh, and did I mention the romper pattern has POCKETS!!!!!????!!!!!
I was honestly concerned about the hassle of getting a romper on and off, but this criss cross back makes it very, um accessible!
I rarely sew for the older ones, so I am happy that they are adding patterns in this particular size range.
Two beautiful young ladies in their new rompers….
