Easy Orange Julius
/This is a “Throwback Thursday” post in honor of my sister, Loni. She did an awesome job helping me on the blog makeover! She visits my blog often… to pull up the orange julius recipe. The thing is, I am ashamed of that post. It was 7 years ago and my photography and staging was absolutely terrible! I didn’t want to include it under my recipe menu because it is embarrassing. So, especially for Loni, I am reposting it with updated photos!
I even went out and bought 97 cent paper straws for the occasion! I also dug through the kids’ play kitchen to find a fake orange for the background to put on top of my dirty dish towel. This is the classiness of my updated blog photography! Unfortunately, all it ever does is rain here these days so my lighting still stinks.
The recipe is the same, but I am going to be honest with you… I am starting to find it a little sweet. As I age I say horrific things like, “Oh, that is too rich for me!” or “Too sweet!” My younger taste buds would never have betrayed me like that. I did have an aversion to sugar with my last (and final) pregnancy so maybe that is part of it, but mostly I just think I am just turning into a sour old woman. All that to say: you may want to decrease the sugar a little bit.
Orange Julius
6 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate (I use half of a standard 12 oz. can)
1 cup water
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar (or less)
1 tsp. vanilla
10-12 ice cubes
Combine it all in a blender until the ice is thoroughly crushed!
Thanks, Loni! Happy Throwback Thursday! :)
