Crochet Bear Hat Pattern
/About a month ago, I whipped up a little something for my cousin's baby shower. The gender is a surprise, but the nursery theme is bears. So, I decided to make a crocheted bear hat. It was super easy and I worked on it during my prep and lunch periods while substitute teaching- it did not take long at all!

I wrote down the directions as I went, so, without further ado... here is the pattern for a 0-3 month size hat:
Crochet Bear Hat (0-3 months)

(I used a size K hook, but everyone crochets a little differently, so it is best to double check a size chart. For a newborn hat, I increase until it measures 4″ diameter.)
Ch 3, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as a hdc in this and each round hereafter), 6 hdc in ring, join with sl st to 2nd ch in beginning ch 2. (7hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, 2 hdc in each hdc, join. (14hdc)
Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, *1 hdc in each of the next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, repeat from * around, join. (21 hdc)
Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, *1 hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, repeat from * around, join. (28 hdc)
Row 5:Ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join. (28 hdc)
Row 6: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join. (28 hdc)
Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join. (28 hdc)
Row 8: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join.. (28 hdc)
Row 9: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join. (28 hdc)
Row 10: Sl st in each hdc all the way around, join and fasten off. (28 sl st)

For the ears (make two of couse!):
Ch 3, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as a hdc in this and each round hereafter), 6 hdc in ring, join with sl st to 2nd ch in beginning ch 2. (7hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, 2 hdc in each hdc, join and fasten off, leaving the end of the string a few inches long. (14hdc)
Attach the ears to each side with the long tail of yarn, sewing them on.
Here is a pic of the hat on the first large baby doll I grabbed- the one with pen on the head.

If you use this pattern, I would absolutely LOVE to see how it turns out! Send me a pic, or a link, or at least tell me about it... please?
