I got to sew with more Art Gallery Fabrics! The new Potager line has just a pretty cottage core aesthetic in blue, green, and yellow. Plus, there are chickens. Sold!

First up I sewed this super cute quilted coat. Those are very trendy right now and the diagonal grid floral print was PERFECT for easy quilting lines! I started with the Morgana Zip-Up, sized up, skipped the hood and zipper, made a lining, and then bound all of the edges to make it… REVERSIBLE!

That chicken flannel is just so stinking cute!!! Oh, and because I just felt like it needed a little something extra, I added pockets with a ruffled detail at the top edges.

But, wait… There’s MORE!

I was feeling inspired and ambitious so I sewed up a Sleep Tight Tee to layer underneath the coat. I had some scraps of Art Gallery Fabrics knit solids that coordinate so well with their prints and went with contrasting neck and sleeve bands. It seemed too plain so I added a chicken applique that matches the print. But, it still seemed too plain so I added some thread applique details too! It really mimics the style of the fabric designs.

The skirt is some chambray that was in my stash (probably vintage because there was a Rag Shop sticker on it!) and I just cut the width of fabric to about the right length, sewed it into a tube, hemmed, and sewed an elastic casing for the waist. Easy peasy. The label from Shine Bright was PERFECT and my niece was adamant about making sure we got good pics of the label.

But, wait! There’s even MORE!!!

I also sewed a pretty little dress for her in this floral print from the collection. I started with the Lavender Dress because I already had that pattern printed, and added Lagoon short sleeves. Instead of pintucks or lace inset for the skirt of the dress, I did some fussy cutting to add an accent stripe.
