Fall Limited Edition Sale

When I have make some spare time to create, I will occasionally have a seasonal sale. Today, I began my fall limited edition sale. There are a lot of rustic, fall signs, and some of my best-selling products from past years.

 

I always start out a sale on my facebook page to give my friends over there first chance. You can "like" my page HERE. Some items are already sold and I am trying to list the rest in my new online shop.

I love the fall season and I am really looking forward to it!

Create In Me a Clean Heart Floral Canvas

I haven't fallen off of the face of the earth or anything. We are just in a busy season. This spring, we had girls on 2 softball teams and a soccer team, plus all of our regular work and farming stuff to do. It has been C R A Z Y!!! So, as far as crafting goes, I am on a little bit of a painting kick. I got my sunroom all cleaned out and it is nice to hang around in there on sunny days- and the paint dries quickly! When I paint, I sneak away for a few minutes to put a coat on or do a few more details. I paint in little spurts and, unless I mess up, it is like a relaxing escape.

I am also focusing on decorating my own home right now! I have been in the process of changing my bathroom color scheme for a very long time. (Wow. I just thought about it and it has been about 3 years!) It used to be a hunter green color, but I couldn't find bath rugs or shower curtains to match. An older lady working at Boscov's told me that color was "out" so I figured I should change it up. I will try to do a full reveal when it is finished, but my towels are in a deep teal and dark plum color.

I used a 12" square canvas and painted on a portion of an appropriate verse:

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

The floral design was inspired by french press mornings. She has a free printable weekly on her website HERE and a shop with beautiful prints for sale HERE.

My painting matches perfectly with my bathroom and I am happy with how it turned out. :)

Also, if you "like" my facebook page, I am showing some extra odds and ends that I have been doing there. For example, I first tried to make this canvas for the bathroom, but decided it didn't match as well as I wanted. Anyway, you can keep up with me a bit more over there. 

And, I promise that I will have something other than a canvas to blog about soon!

Romans 12:12 Canvas Word Art

Once a week or so, I write Bible memory verses on our dry erase board. A friend of mine suggested putting them on canvas, so I told her to choose a verse and I would make one for her to try it out. This was my sketch on the dry erase board...

I rewrote it on paper and used carbon paper to trace over that and transfer it to the canvas. Then, I used a paint pen to write the letters, touching it up with black paint and a detail brush.

Then, we delivered it to her as soon as possible so that I would stop noticing and changing tiny details and the risk of my children destroying it would be eliminated.

Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.

I have a feeling I will be doing a few more of these. :)

Mothers Day Proverbs 31 Canvas Painting

I have never painted on a canvas before! I don't know what I was waiting for.

This was a really fun project to do. I just painted on the words with paint pen and then added the flowers all around. I hope they don't look too much like a little kid painted them. I think they look OK from a distance anyway.

Just a little peek at something else that I made recently. It was a particularly dreary week when I made it, so the irony was not lost on me.

I wasn't too sure about they yellow letters, but outlining them in pink seemed to do the trick!

Valentine's Day Home Decor

Please don't think I am actually early for something.

These are actually pics of my Valentine's Day decor from last year. We did some renovating last year shortly after I took these pictures and I haven't found a new spot to decorate yet.

I love my old barn window frame and I always have it decorated with some of my favorite black and white photographs of each of the kids. They have been hanging around for a few years now and are starting to curl up.  I just used red baker's twine and mini clothespins to hang them.

I made these LOVE blocks with some scrapbook paper and trims mod podged onto 2 x 4 scraps.

I made the tray, too. It is a metal serving tray from Dollar Tree with aqua paint on the edges and chalkboard paint in the center. The paint chips easily, so if you try this, be careful!

Last, the girls and I made this cute wreath for the front door. Red glitter paint was used to freezer paper stencil hearts onto burlap. I cut them into triangles and used jute to hang them across a grapevine wreath I already had. 

I love the pops of color these decorations add to the cold, winter months. The $1 tray was my only expense, too. I need to figure out where I am decorating this year because it has been so dreary and I could definitely use something cheerful around the house!

Barn Sale Sign

The biggest project that I made this Christmas was a custom made "BARN SALE" sign. It is for someone who sells antiques, and I really wanted this to look authentically worn and aged. For real... these pictures don't do it justice. I was super happy with how it turned out!

My husband put three, 36" long, 1 x 6 boards together with strips on the back to hold it together. This sign is HUGE! It is a "pallet" effect, but with solid, better quality wood that will last a long time.

The layers underneath contain mustard yellow and robin's egg blue- both very "vintage" paint colors. The background is several layers of barn red paint. The letters are white, but I did them with about four coats of paint using a tiny brush. It is hard to get a crisp, white color over a dark background and I didn't want thick brush lines. I also used the little paintbrush to give the letters a black shadow and it really made it pop!

It was difficult to find hangers that were not shiny and new, so we ended up using these fun, decorative, gate hinges. Flat, black, tractor paint was used to take the gloss away and the end hole was drilled out a little bigger to make it possible to use rope to hang it up.

The lettering isn't perfect, but it is authentic and this piece took a lot of work!
