Embroidered Starry Night PJs
/The Sofiona Designs Show-Off theme this month is all about hand embroidery. Well, I particularly love that so of course I had to join in! In the past I have embroidered the Balsam and Bedrock, but decided to do something different this time.
It may be a little over the top to wear hand embroidered pajamas, but that is ok. My daughter is getting too tall for her nightgowns so I decided to make her a new one with the Starry Night pattern.
On her first day of Kindergarten I went to Hobby Lobby for the first time and bought a lot of fabric with plans to sew now that I had more time. Ha! Wasn’t that wishful thinking/naivete? She is now 3/4 the way through 3rd grade and most of the fabric is still untouched. This knit was particularly soft so I thought it would be nice for pajamas. I chose some solid accents from my stash (the teal is from a $1 clearance cami) then embroidered some flowers on the bodice to match the floral fabric.
I am going to be totally honest here… I had the pattern for her size in my binder but it was the shirt length, so I just extended it to a random length. Then, on the bottom I went for a triple ruffle (kinda meh- don’t LOVE it).
She loves it and I know this will fit her for a good long time so that makes the hand embroidery seem worth it!
