Vintage Modern Charm Square Star Quilt

Finally! Another quilt finish! 🙂 These pics are a little dark since a storm was rolling in… I am gonna’ call it dramatic. I used the Storybook Stars pattern from Moda Bake Shop HERE. I did straight line quilting on my sewing machine. It is OK. I like wavy lines like I did HERE better. It is backed in some more Vintage Modern fabric and I used red Kona for the binding. I don’t even…

Vintage Baby Dress Collar Tutorial

Here it is! The last Easter dress for this year! I let the other girls have a little say (or a lot) in their dress designs. Hannah doesn’t care. It is fantastic! I wanted it to be simple. So unlike me, I know! I wanted little hints of blue and a sweet, vintage baby look. Then, because I can’t really let things be simple, I went over the top (after Easter) with a bonnet, shoes,…

Gracie Dress Tutorial

Do you know what it harder than sewing a dress for a 2yo?  Taking pictures of that 2yo wearing the dress. I tried being sneaky and taking pics when she wasn’t looking. Her sisters tried to help… She even said, “I’m not cooperating!” and sat down in the grass with her arms crossed. Even bribery didn’t work. This one is stubborn! Unlike the picture-taking, she did not voice her opinion on the dress. So I…

Lydia’s Sweetheart Dress Tutorial

These girls love to twirl in pretty dresses! Taking a break with the one who can’t twirl yet! This dress features a halter top and sweetheart neckline with a pop of orange trim,… …a button halter back,… …a twirly circle skirt (of course!),… …and another little pop of orange on the petticoat lining. This dress was the most 1950s-ish of all of the dresses I made. I can convince a 5yo a little easier than…

Sunrise Dress Tutorial

I am going to be totally honest here. This was my least favorite dress when we sketched out all of the designs. In the end, I LOVED it! Sometimes my 10yo’s fashion ideas make me raise an eyebrow, but it was her dress, so I went along with it. Yeah, she was right.  This time. I pushed for a wide neckline and scoop back because I knew it would look great on her body type.…

What Moms Really Need for Mother’s Day

I want to be totally honest. I am not Super Mom. Things are not always sunshine and roses around here. Yes, I squeeze in a lot of crafty things, but there are a lot of things I don’t do. When it comes to school, I am one of those slacker moms. I don’t check my kids’ school folders. Yes, I know that I should. The first kid or two I was all over that. Now,…

Blushing Izzy Dress Tutorial

My girls get a lot of say in their Easter dresses. Isabelle came to me with a sketch of her Easter dress a few months ago. She was insistent on the cross-front bodice (I later found out she copied it from a very old Barbie book I didn’t even know we had.) When I decided to go all 1950’s vintage, we looked on Pinterest and etsy for some styles that matched up with her design.…

Vintage Easter Dresses

Oooh- the word “vintage” has become oh, so trendy. Yes, I am jumping on the bandwagon. It started out with this… …two flat vintage sheets that my nana bought maybe in the 1970s and vintage trims, notions, and buttons given to me by some friends. The colors matched perfectly. There are 5 colors in the sheets (other than white) and I have 5 girls, so they each got their own accent color. So, after 6…
