Unicorn Doll Quilt

Well, I kinda‘ had a quilt finish this year. You see, I will let my girls pick out fat quarters at Joann’s when they are on sale. Let me remind everyone that fabric shopping with 5 girls in tow is NOT fun– for me, them, and the store employees. Recently, Grace picked out this one with unicorns and hearts in pink and purple. I mean, what is not to love for a (then) 3yo girl?…

DIY Fabric Bow ~ Pattern and Tutorial

So, I made THESE cute patriotic peasant dresses for my five girls before Independence Day. The dress is made of red and white chevron quilting cotton. The bows are detachable, making it a multi-holiday dress, if they so desire.  It took me awhile to figure out how I wanted to make the bows so I thought I would share a tutorial today showing how I made them. They can be made in any cotton…

Independence Day Dresses

I felt like making dresses for the girls again this year. Don’t be too impressed, though. These were super easy! I just whipped up some peasant dresses, but shortened the length and sleeves a bit. For the youngest daughter, I also decreased the width. (See my fast peasant dress sewing tutorial HERE.) I thought the previous pages were a bit plain so I made it look like there is a floor by sewing a strip along the bottom. (It drives me crazy that they don’t line up perfectly,…

Lily’s Quiet Book ~ Pie and Tea Party Pages

One of these pages is simple and the other… not so much. The pie page is pretty easy. I made some HERE and HERE. I really like the gray background on this page, though. I am almost out of the blueberry fabric by now. I don’t know if I can make any more of these. The tea party has two very special guests. I saw many pictures of Lily with her stuffed lamb so I…

Lily’s Quiet Book ~ Woodland Friends Pages

These pages are my FAVORITES!!!! It is a little forest camping scene. OK, there is only one tree. It is a clearing. Use your imagination. Let’s have a look at the details. Shall we? I did a mini version of my button flowers pages (see HERE and HERE). Reversible, of course. I also used vintage ric rac and buttons. Next we have a bush with tiny button berries and felt leaves. The bush actually creates…

Lily’s Quiet Book ~ Camera and Sewing Machine Pages

Like I said before, I kinda’ stalked my cousin on facebook to figure out what they would like. That sounds creepy. Let’s call it creatively brainstorming ideas. I knew Lily’s mom is talented at photography and sewing, so I incorporated that into the book. The background for the camera page is yellow with tiny butterflies. I sewed some vintage trims on the top and bottom just because it needed something.  The applique on the camera…
