Sneak Peek of Doll Dresses and Some Valentine Stuff

I have been doing a lot of craft projects for the kids/with the kids lately on these cold, snowy days. I made a few new things for their dolls a few weeks ago and ended up designing some new patterns. This one is a reversible doll dress. It was surprisingly easy and I hope to release a pattern to go with it soon. It only requires two fat quarters of fabric and some bias tape.…

Scrapbook Paper Collage Canvas Art ~ Zebra & Elephant

My daughter and I made more collage canvas art pieces featuring jungle animals. (You can see the hippo and tiger that we made before HERE.) First, we did a purple elephant on an aqua background. Then, she changed her mind and did a zebra on a pink background. The ribbon on the edges has polka dots. One thing we learned is that using larger pieces for the background reduces the bubbles.  All it takes is…

The next Christmas gifts were these canvas art pieces my daughter and I made together for her to give to her friends. Since this is her thing, I am going to let her tell you about them while I go make breakfast… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello! Fall Decorating with Kids- How it Backfired

The girls did a few fall crafts this year in a failed attempt to keep them busy and out of trouble. It was a nice thought. 😉 So, in an effort to keep it real around here, I thought we would do a little exhibit of “Craft & Consequence” Craft: First up, the girls made this lovely glittered fall leaf garland decorating their playhouse. All I did was hot glue the ribbons to the backs…

Girls Room Collage Wall ~ with Free Printables!

This summer, the girls and I did a lot of crafty projects. The biggest thing we did was a collage wall for a new bedroom. The walls are painted a light gray and the trim is a darker gray. That created a neutral backdrop and the girls each chose their favorite color for decorative accents- red and teal/aqua. I also threw in some pink and white. This is probably my favorite home decorating project ever!…

Doll Diapers and Dresses

Today I have a very special guest post. This summer the girls and I have been doing a lot of craft projects. I am trying to keep them busy so that they don’t find their own ways to entertain themselves. As I mentioned before, one of my tactics for making my daughters dread Joann’s Fabric Store less is to allow them to choose a fat quarter when they are on sale. My daughter, Halley, and I…

DIY Girls’ Ninja Turtle Costumes- with TUTUS!

We did a family theme for the first time this Halloween. My husband came up with the idea of going as characters from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Then, the girls wanted tutus with their costumes and that was a deal breaker for the guys. We battled it out for a month or so until Team Tutu won out, meaning I had to throw together cheap, homemade costumes at the last minute. My son unwillingly…

Little Miss Muffet (from an old Tshirt) Tutorial

Kindergarten had a nursery rhyme program for their friends and family.  My daughter was assigned to Little Miss Muffet.  Cute, right?  Oh, and costumes and props were welcomed.  Also, I procrastinate. So, at the last minute, I threw together a little costume made from an old Tshirt.  I constructed the dorky-looking hat bonnet and a half apron and had her wear it over the jumper I made her big sister last year that she had…
